The boat tour to the ‘Bocana La Carbonera‘ is where the Ciénaga meets the ocean, and it’s a visual treat. Includes lunch at the beach and visiting a CENOTE.
If there’s still any doubt left of all the amazing things to do, go check out ANY of the ex-haciendas scattered all around the peninsula. Rich with historical buildings and favorable picturesque locations.
Archaeological sites are very close by. In Mérida there’s Dzibilchaltún with its own CENOTE you can dip in. Close to Telchac Puerto is Xcambó ruins surrounded by pink water salines and another CENOTE close by. Uxmal ruins is a magnificent site worth visiting.
Mérida is packed with gastronomic experiences, friendly citizens, handcraft shops, exquisite Casonas, museums and a beautiful colonial downtown. Probably the safest city in the continent to get lost in its folklore.
